The 40% Project is a collaborative project organised by the Royal Photographic Society's Women in Photography group. It aims to celebrate women's powerful and historic presence in Westminster. Following the 2024 General Election, a record 264 women MPs now sit in the House of Commons. This marks a landmark moment: 40% of seats are now held by women.
This project aims to celebrate this moment by capturing portraits of every woman MP, taken by women and female-identifying photographers across the UK.

I had the great honour of being paired with 2 long-standing MPs in London. First, Stella Creasy, Labour and Co-op MP for Walthamstow, a women a deeply admire. Then, I was also paired with Tulip Siddiq, Labour MP for Hampstead and Highgate. I was incredibly excited when they accepted my invitation - and then incredibly nervous. Each experience was very different and gave me the opportunity to spend some time getting to understand the sacrifices they've made to serve their constituents. The project is running throughout 2025 and will be published online, through a public (and possibly traveling exhibit), and with a book publication. It's been a wonderful experience.
